EU certificate: We are not currently accepting applications for EU Certificates. We will reopen applications on 1 January 2021.
If the UK and the EU do not reach an agreement in the coming weeks and set out what a future relationship will look like, i.e., there is ‘no deal’, the UK Government has developed some new legislation that the ARB will need to implement in these circumstances. If this does occur, any individuals who are already registered with the ARB will remain registered. For anyone seeking to register after 1 January 2021, we would freeze Annex V.7.1 of the Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications Directive, and if an individual then holds qualifications and has the accompanying access to market requirements that are listed within that frozen version of the Annex, the ARB will continue to register them. Therefore, individuals holding the listed qualifications and accompanying access to market requirement as they are stated in the frozen Annex would not need to sit any additional examinations to gain access to the ARB Register. Individuals holding international or non-listed qualifications would however need to continue to sit our Prescribed Examination and complete their studies under the UK route to registration as is currently the case. [The General System and our Temporary and Occasional Register would in these circumstances, however, cease to operate.] This approach would be an interim approach until the UK Government implements an alternative.
If the UK and the EU do reach an agreement, we do not know at the moment what will happen. This will depend on the nature and scope of the agreement. We are awaiting further instructions from our Government Department on this side of things.
