Akihisa Hirata: Entanglement and Reverberation in Architecture

El COAM acoge la conferencia del arquitecto japonés Akihisa Hirata en la que repasará su trayectoria marcada por la exploración de nuevas relaciones entre arquitectura, naturaleza y vida urbana.

Akihisa HIRATA
Architect / Professor. Kyoto University

Born in Osaka, Japan, in 1971. Earned a Master’s degree from the Graduate school of Engineering, Kyoto University in 1997. After working at Toyo Ito & Associates, Architects, founded akihisa hirata architecture office in 2005. Doctorated from Kyoto University in 2016. Professor at Kyoto University since 2018. Visiting Professor at Yale University in 2025.

Major works include Ojiya City People, Town, Cultural Co-Creation Base HONTOKA. (Library and Community Complex) (2024), Harakado (Commercial Complex, facade/roofscape design) (2024), Tree-ness House (2017), Art Museum & Library, Ota (2017), Bloomberg Pavilion (2011).

Received awards include Golden Lion at the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale (Jointly awarded with Toyo Ito and three others) and AIJ (Architectural Institute of Japan) Prize.

Solo exhibitions including Architecture Arises at the Water’s Edge for Humans (Nerima Art Museum,2024), Tangling (The Architecture Foundation, London, UK, 2012 / Belgium, 2013), joined A Japanese Constellation: Toyo Ito, SANAA, and Beyond (MoMA, 2016), Milan Design Week and Art Basel.
